Default Having THE worse time remove "Y" intake

Im in the process of a tune up (spark plugs, valve cover gasket, etc) and I just cannot get past the Y intake uptop. (after the TB)

I got every bolt except for the under bolt closest to the firewall. there is no room to fit anything. i can't even get a swivel in there, nor anything else. is there anything i have to remove to gain access? im doing this right now, so any tips would be appreciated!

you need to get a long 1/4 extension and go from the passangers side. It is a PIA but possible I did it last summer and that was the only thing that annoyed me. Also I had to unhook the EGR to remove the pipe. Make sure you mark all the Vacuum lines so you can put them back together properly.

I realize this is a double post, but I removed the covers to expose the cams and they look fine. pure oil no mixture of anything.. so im ruling out a head gasket. radiator is also fine.

thats a camera phone shot of the cams and the condition. seems fine. im guessing maybe it was some rain that got in somehow. (the hood was replaced on the car..)

we'll see what happens from here.

also.. my valve cover set came with a bunch of extra ****.. maybe these are for the 7m or something?

Wow and I thought my bays were nasty lol. Where did you get your VCG's from? For gaskets I only go OEM for peace of mind that they are the EXACT size. I have no idea what the other parts are. Dont forget to replace the the Valve stem as well

looks like a possible fel-pro gasket. did you just buy the car? the prev. owner might have done the ol' engine wash like everyone on here seems to do. and flooded the galley and mixed with oil causing that soupy/milky mess.

Yep. Felpro gasket. Just purchased the car. Only thing was a slight misfire and a possible catalytic issue (horrible burning odor).

your probably right, i wonder if the previous owner ever installed those extra gaskets above on the galley or not. could have been the cause.

well! todays a new day and im going to be cleaning that out down right, installing the valve cover gasket, intake gasket, egr gasket new plugs and wires, oil change and possibly the distributor o-ring. next week i'll send the car in to do timing belt and water pump as ive never touched the likes of these engines before.

all in all, hope everything turns out well and goes properly. i'll update!

all done. car runs like a dream come true! *knock on wood* everything went fine, and i found out the cause of that galley pond.. turns out there was a leak on one of the coolant hoses running under the TB, which drained directly into there. Thanks for everyones help!
