Default Need Help..SC400 R154 Swap

I recently purchased an R154 for $190... Guy told me it was from a 91 turbo supra. But it noticed after i got home that it has the hole for a speedo cable. isn't it supposed to be a plug? Is that gonna work with my SC400? I'm having second thoughts about this. But please if there's a solution please help... I know RedPhoenix is working on a kit for the R154 so dude if you have any updates please let me know.

Yeah the guy sold it to you for $190! There is either something really wrong with the tranny or the guy was a utter idiot and you lucked out on the deal. The w58 swap kit from uza70.com would be a lot cheaper in comparison the the r-154 swap. Your running stock HP then the w58 is the way to go. If your going to be running over 400HP then r-154 simple as that. You can see the results on his swap thread looks stock like it was meant to be. I was one of the main helping factors in his swap. You would need to change the gearing in the diff cause the gearing in the w58 makes the car wind out to 4,000 rpms in 5th gear around 80mph.

Well i'm planning on putting a stroker kit on after the swap is done and also either supercharger or turbocharger after that. My only question would be is if that speedo cable situation has a solution.

if u still have the manual speedo sensor/cable, then u can buy a part from marlin crawler that converts it to electric also. i just used my w58 sensor, making a bracket to hold it in place. not sure how off u would be since i don't know the ratio of the stock sc400 auto tranny though.

Right now I just ask the people driving next to me how fast we're traveling. I think 2jzlex's Faq page had something about it.

I wonder if the Automatic Tranny Speed Sensor would work. I was looking at it yesterday and it looks the same.
