Default Using a 341le trans in an SC400

I have a 95 SC400 with a A340E trans and the trans died on me. I have a A341E transmission that has all the same connectors and looks identical. Even the output shafts seem the same. Can I use it?? The A341E was out of a 93 LS400.

Well I went ahead and just swapped it. Everything works fine, no codes, shifts great and I'm back on the road. Pulling the trans was a huge pain and it took all day to swap with it sitting on jack stands.

Thanks a lot for all the uh hmmm help.... (sound of one hand clapping)

kinda sucks that no body could help answer the question, but at least everything worked out for you.

but a simple click on the search button would have answered all your questions/

I'm a noob here but not new to forums. So I did try to search but came up mostly empty. Not sure I was using the wrong terms or something. I found a great deal of info on R154 swaps and engine swaps which was cool but that didn't get me far.

I did find this here... which was ironic and sad as well.

I really figured this had been done before. I was very leery to try this without some help from you guys but I needed to get it back on the road fast. I knew there are some differences internally with the transmissions but physically they seem identical. Everything bolted up like stock. The SC400 didn't throw any codes so it seems ECU accepted the trans.

ur fine, I highly doubt this swap has been done before. Glad to see that you are using the forum! Don't let flamers get to you, it's a pain but in the end the best thing to do is to use your ignore list! Saves administrators alot of time of locking topics.

From the pics it seems that way because of the angle, but I measured and it was exactly the same.

i know how the search can go on here...but atleast things worked in your favor, and i give you a big for doing the swap..and did you have to use a different drive shaft? cause from what i have read, the 341le trans is the same as the TT Supra auto trans, and i would like to use it on my SC300 if i go na-t.

and by the way, where in tx are you?

Used the same driveshaft, didn't change anything except the trans and torque converter. (and I think the torque converter was the same anyways)

great info.....I have a extra 93 SC300 trans, and a low mileage 95 GS300 trans i just picked up with my extra motor...Was curious if the A341E would work or not...I wrote down the code on the side of the tranny and its Model # 30-40LE which wikipedia says comes in all 92-2000 sc300's....other sites only refer to it by the A341E whick doesnt match the SC's A340E code, which is why i had so many doubts...I also had an unanswered thread on here regarding it....Thanks for posting your results!

actually if you searched here a bit further, you will find that the sc400 will accept a ls400 trans no problem, the only difference is that the ls has a taller first gearing, hence, your off the line pull will be less

I did lots of searching but it was little help. I actually found several other posts with the same questions and no answers. The big problem was there are several versions of these transmissions and little info on differences. Also as Gspec pointed out there isn't even much consistency with part numbers. Different sites list different numbers or ways to list it.
