Default Need help with rear catalytic converter

My rear cat is busted and i picked up a direct fit unit from this website called car-stuff.. i opened it and it is about three inches short overall and the spot for the oxygen sensor is just a hole with no spots for bolts around it. Also the actuall cat is smaller than the stock one. Knowing this, is it possible to have the new cat modified to work on my car.

Note: my car is a 97 sc300

And i did try to go through aliga, but had no luck.

Thanks guys.

It sounds like you have been ripped. You should send it back and get the right one.

I just called the place to find out for sure if they sent me the wrong part or it is the right part with some design flaw. One agent told me that they had sent me a wrong one and that the one i have belongs on a gs300. and other reps said different things. Not very knowledgable people. They said however that there is another brand (Catco) that has a direct fit, but the catco brand has same measurement for both the gs and sc300. so iam not sure are they identical. please help

i would get the sc cat just in case or have them look at both cats and see if they're the same...and/or just exchange for an SC Catco cat. they should have sent you a cat for an SC, not a GS... what brand was the cat sent to you? Catco is a common brand cat.

The cat I have now is a DEC brand. What I a concerned about is that the catco unit says obd2 93-97, but I thought 96+ were obd2. Also the catco page has the same exact pic for the gs300 and measurement for both cars are the same( overall length 38.125) is the gs and sc have similiar looking rear cat?

Wow, exact same problem as me!

Here's my thread on it.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-97-sc300.html

Did they make you pay to ship it back? What cat did you end up getting? You need the 41" one with the bolt type o2 sensor right?

We're both in Maryland too. It's a curse.

Measure the inside diameter of the old cat- if it seems like it will work go for having it welded in. You'll just have to cut the old one out and weld in the new one with some pipe, and a new O2 bung welded on. They are common.

It had better be the exact diameter needed, if it is it might be a better option than just sending it back and waiting..

Shouldn't cost much (more) to have it done. However, if the books at that store you bought it from insist that's the one, chances are they will be punks about returning it. Hopefully, it's the wrong cat.
