Will gutting the cat throw a CEL?

BTW, it's a catalytic converter... Not a catalyst ;-)

Not in my ASE cert., i was informed to refer to it as a catalyst, though many manufacturers have there own unique names for things, like nissan calling and exhaust tube seal, a exhaust tube bearing lmao.

Some have said they did this without throwing a CEL, and mine didnt until i reset the ecu, then it threw one. No prob though because i had the simulators ready to go when it did.

Interesting. I've never heard it referred to as a catalyst before.

The simulators being the O2 sensor simulators?

You'd be amazed at the names they can come up with.

I wish I can get away with something like this in California. Removing or gutting the cat is illegal but it sounds real nice.
