Default SC400 lost all power and is sputtering

I got a call from my mom saying that her 92 SC400 had lost all its power. She said you could push the gas and the RPMs would slowly rise but took forever. I went to look at the car myself. I didn't drive it thinking I might do more damage, but when I started the car it was sputtering. I thought it might be out of gas at first thought but it registered almost full. Had the car towed to the dealer this morning. Anyone think they might know what's going on. Thanks

I'll go out on a limb here because Ive had similar problems on a different vehicle and say take a shot at your fuel system. Start with Fuel filter -> Fuel Pump -> Fuel Lines -> Fuel Rail and Injectors?? Don't quote me on that though lol

I second the coil pack; Mine was acting up and I searched on here and found that it with the symptoms it was most likely the coil pack. You can try and unplug each spark plug wire from the distributor and then unplug the coil wire. Which ever one stalls is the bad coil. There is a more detailed thread on it

I guess I don't know what you are asking?

As for COOLIS, the coil packs can just go out without warning, I don't know all your symptoms but with past experience I would start with the coil pack

It is either one of the IGNITION COILS. Pull one off, leave the other on, if car starts, put back the one you pulled out and pull out the one you left on. If car doesn't start then you know which one needs to go. Easy fix, they are cheap to replace.

just a few bolts and two wires to remove. No biggie. Make sure you're replacing the right one though. pick a coil and Take off the coil wire (that goes from the coil to the distributor) and ground it unless 20,000V gives you a hard on. If it sounds worse try the other coil. If it still sputters like before then you've found your bad coil.

BTW coil packs and ignition coils are two completely different things. Ignition coils are single coils of wire used in distributor style ignition systems while Coil packs belong to a different type of ignition system where a coil powers one or two spark plugs alone. Just clarifying

Okay, well I have changed out the top ignition coil, but the car still acts up. Apparently there's an ignition coil on the right side of the engine (close to the battery)? How do you take it off, and is that bracket attached? Is it one assembly? etc...

wen u change one, u have too change the next one due to timing, mainly due to archin off plugs. which causes miss fire, dis will lead too loss off power as only 4 cylinders working
