Auto and 5spd ECU difference issue?

Default Auto and 5spd ECU difference issue?

So the situation is my deliberately slow Auto>R154 swap is coming to a close and I've got a few questions that have left me stumped. My car is a 96' ( so OBD2 ) and is still equipped with the auto ecu. Now I've heard that the auto ecu will pull timing where it's programmed shift points are. My questions mostly for anyone who has a manual swapped SC are; "Is the timing pull enough to effect drive-ability and performance? Did you feel the 5spd ecu swap to be a necessary mod? And finally, is there a simple modification I can do to make the auto ecu behave?" I could basically use input from members who have performed this swap. Thank you

I know if the MKIII Supra, I swapped in a W58 and a manual ECU, and all I get is the OD light flashing every so often. Its actually beneficial to use the manual ECU for the Supra, I would imagine its the same deal for the SC.

Driveability no. Performance on NA car, no. Performance on forced induction, yes.

I'm sure there is, don't know how simple it would be, but none that I know of. Wouldn't worry about it though.

I did two W58 Swaps one in a 95 SC300 and one in a 99 SC300. In the 95 SC300 I kept the Auto ECU installed and did notice if you revved the car almost to red line the car seemed to lose power for a second or two until you shift. I thought it might be do to the Auto ECU. It was sold before I was able to get a manual ECU. The new owner installed a manual ECU and said that he never experienced that issue. So I don't know. I swapped out the compete wire harness from end to end to a 96 SC300 OBDll wire harness and ECU so it was basically an OBDll like yours. I know you might be wondering WHY. The engine was on it's last leg (Shoot). Aliga (Club Lexus Member) had a 96 SC300 engine / ECU and Complete SC300 Wire Harness (Front / Rear) and a W58 for a price a fool could only refuse. In the 99 SC300 I had no issue but it would shoot to red line faster than the 95 SC300 I had prior. That might be do to the vvti and the 4.27:1(Automatic rear end). With both cars the Check Engine was on because the ECU was looking for the Automatic Transmission. Dr. Tweak makes a Transmission Simulator for the Manual swap. I never used one one the the 2jzge Engine But I have one with the 2jzgte & W58 Swap. I hope this helps
