Default 1jz tensioner Question, Help

So i am installing a 1jz vvti in my lexus sc, i have a problem, i lost the timing belt tensioner, and the crank pulley. I took them off to do the timing belt and to paint them, now that i got my harness back, I cant find where i put them.

Anyway I tried to put my 2j ge tensioner and crank pulley on but they are different and do not work together at all. I am pretty sure its just the tensioner that is different, can anyone confirm this for me. Pretty sure the crank pulleys are all the same.

I found a tensioner for sale from an older model 1jz 87-82, are these the same on all 1jz engines? Are they stamped 2.5, the ge is stamped 3.0.

thanks in advance.

You should also post this on Supraforums under the MKIII 1J swap section.

Default tensioner

World exclusive thanks to Larry and Chris at Sound Performance. This information was not on clubna-t, supraforums or here.

They allowed me to bring in a stock 2jz ge and 2jz gte tensioner which are identical to compare to a 1jz they had there on this issue.

The 1jz is a little shorter then both of them, to answer my own question.

Hope this will help others.

Interesting find!

Considering the different timing belt, doesn't surprise me. what about the tensioner pulley?

I've been told that they interchange.

Default tensioner

This tensioner is for the accessories, not related to the timing belt at all, but if you dont lose it, u should be good. , i will post photos up of the car as i get it going, no rush its way to cold here to think about it.

Default pulley

The pulley is different in some cases and in others the same, i still have my original pulley which is plastic and mounts differently. The used one i bought from an older 1jz has the same metal pulley as the na 3.0, they appear to be the same exact size.
