SC300 1G to 2G alternator swap
Haven't seen much posted on this, so I'll provide some more info and pics here for the swap.
The alt on my 94 SC300 recently took a crap due to oil from the leaking distributor seal covering and shorting the unit. The alt fuse was still good, just had a batt light on the dash and 11.xx volts. A friend let me use his 95 alternator in the meantime, he's still in the final stages of a 1.5JZ conversion.
This isn't a hard swap - Requires removing the 3 end cover nuts and 1 small bolt, all 8mm, along with the 12mm nut and cover for the positive terminal stud. Phillips screws are removed to take off the center piece, can't think of what to call it right off, and a couple of long screws and another short also hold the rectifier / plug assy on under that.
1G rectifier+connector / 2G conn
95 alt with 94 connector:
Good as old:
"custom" shield, wtf:

alternator connector
How will I know if my 1G Connector + rectifier is good and that I can use it on my 1995 alternator ? I get the same symptoms, batt light and my battery drains ... I found a 1995 alternator but I realized that they have different connectors ... I am just afraid that if I do the connector swap , I will waste my time just to find out that my old 1G connecto with rectifier is bad ...

If anyone has a spare 1G alternator or regulator sitting around, please post on possible test points for the rectifier diodes. Will work on getting mine out tomorrow since the car is down.
