Default Idle problem, plz help

I just bought the car and it idles fine in park, but when u put it into drive, it idles at 500rpm and sometimes shuts off. and when its steady at 1200-1500 it stuters. anyway, the guy told me it was the pod intake that he put in and that is why he unplugs the MAF. ive notice that there is a vacuum hose on the side that is broken and was sealed. the engine wont go past 5000rpm when i floor it. i think it could be a dead piston. but i dont know.

Thanks guys

An intake probably would not cause you to crack a piston or hurt a ring.

The maf should also never be unplugged.

You need to check for vacuum leaks everywhere after your MAF.

i guess that my question is, does the vacuum or the intake affect the engine idle. im worried cuz the engine has 230k miles.

Check the fuel regulator switch hoses, one of the hoses might be leaking fuel.
