Default Engine turns off while in movement also lights dimmed

I have a 92 sc400, lately the car has been turning off (it dies) when in movement or sometimes does not want to start. When I moved the transmission stick (pressing the override) it seems to get the contact back and the car will start also the lights while in movement become dimmer and if I accelerate it become brighter. All seem to be part of one problem... any ideas??

On my Acura I had similar issues and it was caused by a bad alternator. Try the basics first, check the battery contacts, the battery, alternator, and the contacts on the alternator. Good luck. The dealer took care of my issue because it was under warranty. They told me that the ground on the alternator was chewed up and the battery was bad because the alternator was only working part of the time. I knew it was the alternator going bad but I got them to replace it for free.

I had an MR2 Turbo that had a bad ground on a tail light that was shorting out my entire electrical system when I'd turn on my lights or tap my brakes. Took me a while to figure out due to being inexperienced at the time (I was 16), but I'd check all of your grounds and such just in case, and then go from there...
