Default alittle budget help please

hello all,
New here and wanted to ask a question regarding the 1jz-gte or 2jz-gte swap. I will be selling my truck shortly and will most likely have about 11 grand to play with including the purchase of an sc300. Lets say that i get a car for around 5500-6500 will the remaining 4500 or so be enough for either one of these swaps obviously it wont be a six speed, also keeping the stock turbos. Labor should not be too expensive since my mechanic would love to put one of these together. I have seen on j-hot that they had a 1jz for 2200 and a 2jz for 2700. Any advice would be appreciated!

You'll probably have to go the 1jz route with only 11K to spend on buying the car and motor + labor.

There are few reputable mechanics in NY that will do the swap for cheaper. Why not buy a shell and do a complete build up? You can get the majority of the work done for that price.

Probably be harder to find a shell than a less than perfect 300. So 1jz seems to be the cheapest route. Is 500rwhp possible with the 1jz without building up the block!!!! I am sure the factory turbos would need to be replaced.

It is possible with a single turbo set up, but would take a few supporting mods like cams, injectors, ecu, etc. A lot people have done 500hp with on the stock bottom end though. These engines can really take a beating.

I say you do it yourself..I paid $3k for my SC3 and a total of $2500 on the 1Jz motor w/ auto tranny and labor! If you buy one swapped then you are looking around 9-12K and you dont really know how the swap was put together.....
