Default help! can i check for codes without the scan tool

right now my engine is shaking violently after i changed my plugs and it doesn't look safe to drive down to autozone, so is there any way to pull codes manually on OBDII 98 sc300. i tried the E1 TE1 short but the light did't flash!!! any help is appreciated.

You probably didn't install the plug wires right.

i installed everything very carefully but you're right about it being firing related. i managed to make it to a nearby autozone and i pulled 0303 which is a cylinder3 misfire , and 0120 which is tps faulty circuit. i understand the probability or possibility of the first one but i don't understand why i got a faulty Tps if i didn't mess with it.
