High RPM's @ cold Idle
Hey Guys
I need help. My 93 Sc300 Idles about 1900 to 1800 RPm's during cold starts at any outside temperture. I have some valve noice at intical start up but i goes away imediately. At this high idle I think the oil doesnt have engought time get to the heads. i just started doing his about 2 months ago. I just replaced the o2 sensors with denso universals 234-1057. The car was a bit more responcive but I still have this problem. I have searched all the posts and nothing on this topic. What should the cold idle be on a 93 SC300? About 5 months ago I replaced the valve seals with Timing belt cam seals water pump the works with all Toyota factory parts. I at am a loss. dont know what else to check. Sometimes after warm up the idle stays at 800 to 900 and then after 30 secs drops down. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mostly all fuel injected cars idle high on startup because the computer tells it to do so. If the car did not have this feature i doubt it will be posible to get it to idle on colds day startups. What you are probably hearing is your rod bearing. The sound is only there for a few seconds because that how much time it takes for the oil to pump to the bearing. What type of oil do you use? how much miles is on the engine?

i dont think that is possible, not with a toyota ecu. use the recommended oil which i believe is 10-30 .These engine dont like the cold to much so running the proper oil is required when its cold.
