Have you placed this in your car? What did you do about the actual transmission being longer?

AR5 Solstice trans $650
JZ bellhousing $350
2.2 S-10 Clutch $ 35
Chevy Yoked DS $250
$1285 Total
This is for an Updated "R154" with Triple Synchros 1st-3rd.
Old, sloppy, Worn out R154 $1200 Before Shipping, rebuild, other conversion parts..
Do we see the advantages here?

If this truly does work and they only run $650-$750 or so (what I had read R154's are supposed to go for but here it's stated they are now around $1,200 for a poor example??)... then yes.
Other than the bolt-on parts already listed the only thing needed is a custom driveshaft then?
I couldn't tell from reading this thread... was the transmission speed sensor issue was solved with a Marlin Crawler VSS?

you can swap tail housings i thought... yes, this is a much better option for us, as it is both cheaper, and a little more reliable. but, we can also use the t56 6 speed trans...
t56 6speed comes in a dodge viper, so i'm sure it will hold up to some torque and abuse...

With an adapter, that costs a ton of money.
Might as well slap in a V160 while your in there. This is not an option for a lot of enthusiasts.
Also, your posts are super ambiguous.
They make searching on the topic a nightmare with the hearsay combined with a million dots at the end of every sentence. But thanks anyways.
This thread is about a cost effective, bolt-in alternative to a worn out MKIII R154 ,and Blinged out Hollywood drift JDM taxed $1200+ Soarer R154s.

The V160 is actually a stronger transmission anyways.
Aside from using the Solstice AR5 as an R154 replacement... it would be great if we found a transmission that could fill in the gap between AR5/R154's and V160. Perhaps something along the lines of a 350/G35 6spd which I heard are pretty cheap.
The other advantage to the AR5 is that it'll be easier to save up for since you can buy what you need in pieces as opposed to chucking $1,200 upfront for a worn R154.
