Trouble Shooting SC 400 Idle Issue
Hey guys,
I usually browse the forums for help but have never posted. Today I would like to contribute a little. Like a lot of the SC owners on this forum I washed my engine but with a regular hose. After washing the engine I was expericing all types of problems. My biggest problem was when my car got up to 40 mph it would mis-fire. I used the search and seen where people had changed there spark plugs and spark plug wires. I changed my spark plugs and wires but notice after, my car was idling high. I drove the car around for awhile hoping that it would return to normal operatiing conditions. To make a long story short I pulled off the intake assembly and reseated it. The problem still occured. I sat down in the car to think for a minute and noticed that my floor mat was pressing on my accelerator I missed this before due to the fact that it was not covering the brake actuator just part of the accelerator. Of course after removing the mat and placing it on the floor correctly all my high idling problems went away The point of this thread is to take your time and make sure that you look for the simple things first. The only thing this cost me was a little time but it could have cost more if I did not stop to look at the big picture. BTW this forum is awsome.......
