fixing the 1jzgte throttle cable issue for $5 and 20 minutes
As many of you know the sc300 throttle cable is just inches too short. I was thinking of ways around replacing the throttle cable with the overly long mkiv cable, or the camry cable which supposedly needs modifying to work. I figured out a very simple way to make the sc300 throttle cable work with the 1jzgte swap for about 5$ worth of parts, and 20 minutes max of labor. Here is how i did it.
Parts necessary:
Throttle bracket from 2jzge (I'm not sure what else will work here)
cable from home depot
Cable Stop Set
First step is a new bracket. The 2jzge throttle bracket works perfectly! You will have to grind off one small section of the bracket in order to provide clearance for its new mounting position. Mount the new bracket in the empty mounting hole on the intake manifold. It is farther back on the manifold than the factory mounting bracket, and the sc300 throttle cable fits perfectly.
Press the gas pedal to the ground, and measure how much of the cable sticks out of the cable shroud. You are going to need to cut directly in the center of the cable that sticks out of the shroud.
Now, attach the new piece of cable to the small end piece which attaches to the throttle body using the stopper set. Test fit the piece in the throttle body. Now you have to make sure the gas pedal is in the 0% throttle position, and make your cable attachment between the throttle cable and your new piece. It should be tight, but not putting any pressure on the throttle body.
Thats it! Extremely simple, extremely cheap. I don't know why no one else has done this before, it seems to work flawlessly. Pictures should be up later today to further explain everything. I have them, I just haven't had time to upload. If anyone has ANY questions at all on this process please let me know. I'll be more than happy to help them out.
