Default sc4 sitting for month in winter now problems?

seems like my engine is misfiring? no power when accelerating and weird exhaust noises. also transmission is shifting rough.
before i left it sitting i was driving for a month with no problems after changing my plugs caps rotors wires.
what could be causing this? my mechanic said something about the camshaft or crankshaft and some other engine wires that would provide the spark?
anyone had a similar prob?

Bad gas.

Was it sitting for more than 3 months?? Did you treat the fuel with stabilizer?

Then it should be one of only a few possibilities.

Cap/Rotor - rule out since you replaced
Wires/Plugs - same as above
Coil pack

I would also check all wire connections to make sure something didn't come loose.

my mechanic said four of my 8 cylinders arent working. i think it has to be a rotor. would a camshaft or crankshaft position sensor have anything to do with these symptoms?

change the fuel filter too... can build up condensation after sitting for so long...... will cause misfires and rough idles if not no start at all.... i would do that first...cheapest fix and you probably need it anyways if you haven't done it in awhile...

I don't know if you checked the coil packs I mentioned earlier. Follow a short wire off each distributor to a small unit located slightly behind and below the distributor

if he is using dist cap / rotor, doesn't that mean that he does not have coil packs? the early SC400s did not come with coil packs, they just had regular spark plug wires w/ the cap/rotor, but the later SC4s had independent coil packs.

there are two ignition coil packs. my mechanic checked the wires, plugs, caps, rotors, crankshaft position sensor, and more... he needs an oscilliscope to check the ecm. i think it might be the computer?

anyway my mechanic didn't fix a thing and now im gonna tow the car to my house and try to crack it myself.
i have the repair manual but don't know where to start.
theres a section of codes which is prob the first thing i will do... its really annoying. what a waste of a pimp ride.
