Default 97 SC300 with 1JZ

Guys,

I am just planning for the future so bear with me. My 97 SC300 auto has 182k on it. Although it is running well for the mileage, I need to start looking at options when the motor does die on me.

I have tried searching but came up with limited information for swapping into a 97, as opposed to pre 96 OBDI's.

I would go single with a 1JZ. What problems would I run into with it being a 97 over a pre 96?

just do it, youll love it, also you wont know about the problems until you do it, you run into problems on the way no before, no matter what year you did it in there would be problems, youlll love it, and yes go single......

Get the Supra TT shortblock for 2000 dollars and have a brand new motor that makes more power. It will cost you less than doing a swap.

Is this what you did?? Is this a direct bolt on like the 1JZ>?

You replace the shortblock in your stock motor with brand new 2JZ-GTE short block. It should be a direct bolt on. You get a single turbo kit and you're done! Much easier and cheaper than engine swap.

That is not what I did, but that is something I would do if I was going to do it again. You end up with practically a new motor. A user motor is like a cat in a bag. You don't know what you're getting.
