Car starts, then dies
Past couple weeks this has been going on, not all the time, but enough to be a major problem, car can start, then 2-3 seconds later it dies, after a few tries she will idle, any ideas? The car has actually died twice just going down the road cruising along.

take off the piping into the throttle body and spray some brake cleaner (make sure its from an aerosol can) into the throttle body. Then try and start the car. If the car starts after/while you are doing this than you have a fuel problem.

i have exactly the same problem: my 95' SC400, 116kmiles starts, hits 1250-1500 rpm and then dies. many times after another. starts - dies - starts dies. it does NOT hold idle.
another time it wont start at all and i can crank as long as i wish - no start.
another day it starts fine.
has anybody found a solution for this problem?
thanks, george

This just randomly happened to me the other day, it has been starting right away since i've gotten it but it started, i could even press the gas and revv it to 4k rpm then it would fall hopelessly to about 250rpm and die shortly after?!?!?! another couple of trys and it worked fine?!?! would my fuel pump ecu be out as well?!?
Thanks for the help, any suggestions for the fuel pump relay would be nice.

The last post in this thread before you was in 2007 and related to a 1992-2000 SC300/400. I would ask your question in the SC430 sub-forum since your vehicle has a completely different computer, electrical, diagnostic and fuel system compared to our earlier generation SC's.
