I would imagine that getting your stock TC rebuilt to a higher stall would allow you to keep your highend power because you will still have lockup about 40mph, giving you better 1/4 times, and keep fuel economy.

Straight up, been runnin' a Dragon with a 3200 stall in my 92' sc4 for about 2 yrs. and definitely one of the most valued of my upgrades. Goes good with my intake, custom borla exhaust, NX wet 75 shot, and ls4 brakes 4 tha stop.
definitely a noticable difference in takeoff....

My Lextreme TC it did make a little difference to my take off - I have noticed that the car starts moving at 2200 RPM not 2800 RPM and that might be the reason why I did not feel a huge difference- It could be that the one I received was a 2200 stall RPM

How can you know what is the stall RPM on ur TC? What I read somewhere is that I should hit Gas and Brake at the same time for about 4 seconds, and wherever my RPM needle stops is the actual TC Stall Speed

If this is correct then my Lextreme one is 2200

i was researching upgrades for my car. i just bought the 95 sc400 and saw the dragon TC. well if im gonna upgrade my car - i wanna go all out maybe not all at once, but I plan to treat it like my queen! i cant do the upgrades myself, i know nothing of mechanics besides like changing tires and a older 90's Camry alternator... im wondering where do i get the Dragon Torque Converter part, and what kind of mechanic i should have put it in? could a local AAA certified garage do it? thanks..

i think any shop that can rebuild automatics could probably do it.
Since youll be bringing your own part theyll tell you 100 times over that its not warrantied, but a good transmission shop rarely messes up a straight forward install.

is it normal to rev up to 5000 rpms when hitting the pedal full throttle at a dead stop before taking off at a decent speed? because otherwise, i might just have to check if the tranny has a slip because it seems a little sluggish... I wouldn't want to put something that expensive into a trans id have to fix first.

Thanks by the way

I really don't know how to test the TC for sure, but the belief to brake-torque the car and see when the car will start spinning at a certain RPM is completely wrong. I have the same 2800 stall rate TC, but after I increase the boost and tuning, the wheels start spinning at around 1500 RPM. I don't remember at what RPM the wheels started spinning before the boost increase, but they spin so much sooner with the boost increased. Does that mean I my TC is at 1500 RPM. I don't think so.

Lextreme.com offers a cheaper deal where you send your TQ in and that then it is reworked with a good stall rate and then mailed back to you for around $400... They come back in good shape and is almost as good as the Dragon.....

Any transmission shop should be abel to install for no more then $300

This is not a cheap mod but probably the most important...Good luck
