I've got some friends who could install some stuff for me for probably pretty cheap, how much would it cost to just make it a bit quicker? I don't want to spend a lot of money, I just want it a bit faster off the line, 0-60, etc. I never race, I'm a pus*y in that category. Thanks in advance for any replies.

get a cat-back system... a 2.5" would work

Get some universal muffler like a Dynomax Ultraflow or a N1 Universal 60mm muffler and have a shop build you an exhaust system from the catalytic converter back... thats for a dual; if you get a single get a single 3" system... an N1 Universal 80mm or a UltraFlow 3"

Getting cam gears to change your timing and/or getting a Super-AFC to optimize your power curve would also work...

a Dynomax Ultraflow runs around $100 or so and the N1 Universal is around $190-$210 depending on where you buy from... exhaust shops are usually pretty cheap

cam gears i'm not sure of but they aren't very expensive at all

the Super-AFC is about $300 brand new

In addition to Bean's recommendations, get a cold-air intake and K&N filter.

On the SC300 there is ample room in the passenger side front vent below the headlight. putting a filter in this location with some 3" mandrel bent pipe leading to a MAF sensor off of a 92 LS400 would also help free up the intake restrictions. Because of the air filter's low and up front location, there would be less added noise.

for the MAF, that should be cheap if you buy a used one

check out: http://www.car-part.com

its a junkyard database... they can find anything you need...

the filter kit is pretty cheap... several stores sell a cold air intake that does exactly what SC300T was talking about...

with all these bolton mods (including cam gears and S-AFC), you're looking at a pretty good change...
it depends on a couple things though... is your SC300 a 5-speed?

you may lose a little power below 2000rpms because of the less restriction in the exhaust; but when you get in the midrange the car is going to pull a good bit harder...
i'd say 0-60 times in the 5.9 area would be possible with a 5-speed...

don't bother with pullies... our stock crank pulley has a dampner on it to keep the engine balanced... the upgraded lightweight pullies do not

I dont know if I want to spend so much money. I think I want the air filter, I've seen great results from that first hand. What are the most important things for a few hundred bucks? Thanks for lengthy replies, I really appreciate them.

intake and exhaust are always the first mods

get a K&N intake system and a single or dual exhaust... single 3" or dual 2.5"

the dual will cost more but be quieter and look more stock

the single will be cheaper but louder and less stock

Thanks a lot. I'm also pretty sure I'm gonna get a K&N filter. Whta kind of HP gains am I looking at with those 3? Thanks for the help.

Does the weapon R intake fit on the sc3? I've read good things about it on the GS forum. Does it work well on this too? Which one works best? Thanks.

Is this any good? I think its weapon R intake...http://www.dragonintakes.com/Coldair/index.php

I've been looking around, who DOES make intake for the SC300? I cant find them for AEM, arospeed, weapon r, KN...who makes one? Thanks.

About the exhaust, does it help performance at all? All I really want is performance, faster...I could care less about the sound.

yes the exhaust helps definitely
it doesn't matter which you get really; some will be louder than others though... but some are higher quality... the N1 singles are better quality and they look better and more JDM spec than like dual flowmasters or something, etc

look for intakes for a N/A MKIV Supra, they should work just fine

with just I/E you should gain about 15hp or so at the most

Anyone know if the dragon intake pipe for the IS300 will fit on the SC300?

http://www.dragonintakes.com/gallery/

Bean,
I'm planning to run my car non-turbo. The N1 single looks very nice. I prefer those over the dual and the dunk. You think a 3" down pipe and 2.75" after the split would fit for my non-turbo sc300 set up? Or should I do a 2.5" down pipe w/ 2.5" after the split? Is there going to be any difference considering that I'm not gonna be running turbo?

thanks in advance

Yes, for N/A I'd go with the 2.5" downpipe and 2.5" catback to a 2.5" N1 (60mm)

it will sound very mean and clean

a 3" is a bit too large for a non-turbo car... you'll lose a lot of bottom end power while gaining little in the top... 2.5" is the best tradeoff
