3sgte swap
if i remember correctly it wasnt exactly the 3sgte block...its a modified version to sit in the cradle on the supra. i think toysport carried one or two fo them a while back and were ungodly expensive.
My friend pulled a 3sgte out of a mr2 and dropped it into his AE86/ He purchased a altezza tranny and bolted it right up to the 3s. The car is running around orlando. Made custom mounts for it and is running tech3. car should put out 450rwhp no problem.
It can be done for a lot cheaper only if you have experience and patience.

why not just use the JDM altezza motor? i know of a beams 3S for sale for about $1600 with trans. although its not turbo and has VVT-i. but still, not a horribly difficult or expensive swap, but if its not fully built, would be a waste in an SC. then again, this is coming from someone who started a simmilar thread a while back.
oh, and the V12, isnt from lexus, its from toyota. its in japan only in the Century. if you can even find a 1GZ-FE, let me know. they are harder to find than a virgin after senior prom.

oops, I didn't mean it can be cheaper than a JZ swap, but it can be done for cheaper than what people say it can be done for. Does that make sense?

I must have read this thread wrong, I'm talking about the whole swap process into an sc chassis or supra chassis can be done for far less than 15000. Even with 450hp, it can be done for less than 15,000.

.
Check out danstoy in Santa Fe Springs, CA. He has done a lot of 3sgte conversion on AE86. There are quiet a few AE86 with 3sgte. It is expensive and upto the owners to do it. I think Danstoy put down around 400whp with stock internals. Ask them about it. Pretty sure they can fabricate your needs. I don't want to endorse his website because it might be against the forum's rule so just type in "danstoy" in google and it will show up.
Best of luck

1. turbo - 800-1600 depends on when you want the boost to come on. (66mm or larger inducer)
2. EMS - 300-4000 depends on mega squirt or something you want thats crazy
3. Cams - 500-750 - depending on how you want your car to idle and how high you want to rev
4. Metal hg - 100-300 - depending on what brand sticker you want on the window
5. ARP head studs - 125
6. Intake and Exhaust manifolds - 1000-3000 for both, depends on whose will last the longest
7. Bigger TB - 100-350 - the bigger the straw the faster the cup will fill up. unless you use sewer pipe
8. Valvetrain - springs and new seal - 175 - don't use dual springs for daily driving
9. Fuel system - 500-1900 - Big pump, -6 lines atleast, regulator, injectors, rail, etc...
10. Awesome heat sink (ie intercooler) - no side mount will do... A/W or trunk sorry guys this is where lots of people fail.
11. tuner - 75/hr
12. good tuner - 150/hr
13. great tuner - priceless and invaluable
** If you plan on revving higher than 9500 on stock block, make sure to buy a brand new oil pump and shi it for higher pressure... $150
here is the recipe that i have created enjoy.... Prices vary depending on how crazy you want to go with it

3sg will fit, and it will mate to a W58 if you get the bellhousing for it. Problems with a swap like this would probably be minimal (oil pan, engine mounts, wiring). You'll get the advantage of not only lighter weight, but where the weight is placed in the car. You'll have a front mid motor car. That's why JGTC supras were using 4cyl engines before switching to V8 (even V8 allows better engine placement than I-6). Not exactly what I would consider doing in a SC... but iv'e been dreamin of a supra with this swap for a while.
Could be easily done, with a Beams 3sge altezza drive train. Would just need to fab up engine mounts, exhaust and drive shaft. I would assume the steering rack would have clearance. The loom and ECU may be a pain, but thats because i hate wiring. Turbo kits for those black top beams engine are readily available online. Once the engine and trans is in its just like turboing an altezza.
