Default Why no BFI?

I see K&N, and thos aftermarket intakes but no BFIs on this forum. Why not? As far as I can tell the BFI is the optiml solution.

Cheap
has a heat shield to prevent underhood temps from heating up intake air unlike the cone filter
basically 0 resistance that even the aftermakret filters cant match.

So here goes:

BFI - 17 HP gain !
So anyway why no BFI no these forums?

because most people who go big go turbo and the fact that you wont get exactly 17 hp from an intake... more like 5 at the wheels at most which you cant really feel. along with this dyno power gained by minor mods like the bfi are drastically less in real world conditions since on the street there is higher load and usually warmer air to contend with. Im sure many more have done the mods but are more humble and dont post every exact thing they do to their car.

SC owners typically don't do the BFI mod because they're not so bright.

They don't use the search button and blindly assume that toyota didn't think through an OEM system... the only thing that works as well as the BFI is an oversized storm drain.

no joke.

haha nope... don't get too excited.

I mean... maybe you just don't like the slight increased in intake noise, on the unique exotic-like resonance at 2,700 RPMs... my buddy with a Gallardo agrees onthe exotic exhaust note, and I'm on stock exhaust.

Oh yes, the gas milage increase is nice... I got 24 mpg to upwards of 28 mpg on my cross country drive... Planet Soarer backs me up.

but I digress:

I was refering to the bling-bling crowd that would prefer blowing $100 on an Injen air intake that gets heat-soaked and reduced gas milage.

I wasn't getting pissy ...I just didn't understand what you meant.

If gas mileage is a increase than "hell yea"!!!, I'll break out the dremel and saw tonight!!!

But if its just for the "big suck" sound...eeehh not worth the time to me!

Now I did see a post about a Cold air intake that routed the from the throttle body, through to the front end in front of the radiator....That made sense cold air, no engine heat.

I just tried looking for it, no success

#1 reason would be lazyness.

Making the cover and all the ducting takes time and effort.

Also, those retarded "egg" cones or whatever that someone started with did not help anything considering they are tough to come by in North America.

I just cut out the front of my air box and dropped in the K&N filter. Unless someone wants to sell all the shielding I won't be doing BFI.
