Unhappy Please Help! Clutch Broke?!?

Ok everyone, i don't usually ask for much, but i really need help. I can't explain it. I was on my way to work (fortunately only a couple hundred feet away since my job is about 15 miles from home) when I was turning and I went to shift and my gears grinded, I tried again, same thing, i finally pulled over and looked to see that my clutch pedal was stuck all the way down to the floor. I was hearing a ticking noise when it was down there, i pulled it up by hand and the ticking stopped, but that's all that did? Did my clutch cable snap? I need to figure this out quick! Fortunately I'm not off work till 7:00am and most places will be opening up shortly there after. Please any thoughts are welcome!!! Thanks!!!!!!! -=nathan

Also, before you ask, yes i have searched about this, and only found someone that actually broke their pedal...

well.... you have no clutch cable, the clutch uses a hydraulic linkage. This would probably be a slave or master cyl. problem, based on the disengagement problems.

Thank you for your response.... The fluid levels seem to be fine? Any other ideas of what it could be? When I depress the clutch there is a bit of a bearing type noise (like a throwout bearing ticking) but when i pull it up by hand, that noise stops...

I would look around the slave and master and check for signs of obvious leakage or damage. But the fluid level being OK doesn't point to that really. It is possible that the clutch PP has cracked, or the clutch disc or center has been damaged somehow. My bet would be a problem with the clutch center, you probably lost a spring or two, I have seen this cause bad shifting issues like what you have. Open her up and find out! Post up what the problem was...

$2050.00 is what toyota is quoting me!!!!! They want to change both master and slave cylinders (i'm not going to let them, and do that myself later), and they want me to buy a new flywheel, Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate, Pilot Bearing, Rear Main Seal, and Throwout Bearing (even though mine is less than a year old)... And they haven't even opened it up yet to see positively what is wrong... what should I do? -=nathan

That's good advice, unfortunately I haven't lived in south florida that long, and don't have any wrench savvy friends down here. Also, time is of the essence, as this is my only car, and i need it to get to work. Looks like I'm at the mercy of Palm Beach Toyota

Thanks for the post though...
