BOV choices??
So I am closing the gap on my turbo parts. I am looking to buy a BOV pretty soon. For those that have one, which do you have and do you like it?? What all do you guys reccommend? I was thinking something like Greddy Type S, Greddy Type RS, HKS SSQV.

get a first gen dsm bov not only is it cheap but it is unbreakable.
and all you need to raise the boost is a manual boost controller
plus (and this is the worst part) it is one of the best sounding.
but from the list you made i would say you are not on a budget build and with that said the dsm bov just wont have the bling factor your lookin for

Hks Ssqv
HKS SSQV is one of the most widely used BOV's on the 2jz-gte, bar none. You'll see this vividly on the SupraForums. Probably outnumbering all others combined, bomb-proof reliability, sound effects. Good luck on your project, you're off to a good start. Take a hard look at upgrading the radiator, all aluminum Koyo Radiator for the Supra fit, also don't forget the TT Brakes, suspension and sways, you'll want them when you find out just how freaking fast your car will be.

well if you want a whistle sound (high pitched noise) then go with the ssqv or greddy type s. There's a pretty good thread on supraforums with sound clips that helped me decide what bov to go with (remember, the sound also depends on the amount of boost you're running). As for the HKS racing, don't you have to let that be recirculated back (I have the first model of the hks racing bypass valve I'll give you for $75 )? I agree that tial bov sound the best but at a cost.

if your going to turbo your lexus dont get a dsm bov. they leak past 14 psi and need to have the head crushed to handle more boost, plus why spend all the money on a nice turbo setup to run a dinky *** worthless bov. I had a HKS ssqv and i loved it. never had a leak and adjusting it was easy.
exive: no a bov does not give power. it releases the trapped air in between the turbo and throttle plate when the throttle plate is closed. this is so that you dont get compressor surge (trapped air that forces the turbo to spool down and while exhaust gases are still going to the turbine side, thus torquing the shaft and eventually breaking the turbo.

mrshabo they suggest having over 18psi for the bov's but as with any turbo setup you will shift below that pressure. the hks racing will do for any turbo setup but will be most efficient for one running over 18psi

hey if you are on a budget and you are runing low boost(anywhere from 7 to 10) the dsm is a great choise. but if you have spent a good amount on your kit, i would invest a little more too. having said that i must also say as great as the tial is i definatly think its overkill.
so go greddy
so go greddy
