Default Anyone tried making a CAI for SC?

Ive seen a number of short ram airs and the BFI, just curious if anyone has tried to make a CAI?
Seems like theres enough room to pipe one down right under the passenger side headlight.

something tells me you came from honda world.

The BFI setup has been proven to provide the largest power increase. Do some searching yo!

I was one of them also. I think the space under the headlight is way too small too work with.

LOL, maybe it was the "Integra" in my sig. But I wouldnt say im from the Honda world, im from the GM world, but they, like the rest of the american cars, break down too much to drive on a daily basis. This is why I like the SC, V8 RWD coupe, and as reliable as it gets.

When I searched on this topic I think I found 1 true CAI, the others were just short ram air that the author was calling a CAI. The BFI looks rather cheap, I drive a lexus SC not a Saturn SC, under the hood should reflect that. I am just looking for ideas, while the stuff I found in the search of this board is great, I'm sure theres other people who have done similar mods that havent posted it on the board yet. I may attempt to make a variation of the BFI mod, I don't know, thats why I put up this thread.

ok, i did the search for you: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=161039

note that we made these CAIs for our SC300s and I don't know what the engine bay looks like in a 400, so things may be different.

Don't assume too quickly, there are a hardful of beautifully crafted BFI's around here. Some of them included custom cutting and sanding, aluminum eggcups and some form of polycarbonate plastic to cover it up. Looked clean and a police officer wouldn't do a double take on the intake unlike an aftermarket intake.

That's not quite a CAI, that's more of a short ram. Look in the thread I posted, those are true CAI.

edit: Didn't see your completed intake till now, I guess yours is CAI since you have the heatshield.

The BFI is essentially a CAI.
It just makes use of the entire grill as your filter/suction.
Done correctly you get a vacuum effect and you get cold air from in front of your car because the grill is lower than the stock snorkel. You don't collect water either. Really it's just a huge scoop for your air to get sucked into with only one place to go, your intake. Now if someone fabricated a box that uses a large square filter than we'd be in business. Than you'd have a nice looking intake in the engine bay that doesn't look stock and doesn't look DIY.
