Default Taillight Lamp Failure Module PROBLEM!

Hello,

The Lamp Failure Module in the trunk behind the left wall of my 1992 sc400 has burned a hole in itself. I recently bought a new one and the same problem occured with it, luckily I removed it before any serious damage occurred. Basically, the hole causes the tail lights to go out. I believe the problem occurred after i switched the tail lights to the 95-96 versions. What could be causing the problem and how can i fix it? thanks.

Alex

Maybe the actual lights in the taillights are incorrect?

bumping this, i got in a crash and water leaks into my trunk for the time being but im not sure if that will affect this, my tails went out like the op is saying, check the box and had a huge hole burned in it, so i got a new one, and it burned the same exact spot, alot smaller this time though, need help, cant keep paying $40ish dollars to work for a like 2 weeks and break again. need help plzzzzzzz. I have not changed tails, first failure module was black (stock one) new one is yellow (just got from aliga).

The circled part is where the hole is and i think the part that keep heating up

Sounds like maybe a wire is overloading, sending too much current.
