Default Preppin' for the 1jz swap

What can I do beforehand to prepare for the swap? My car is currently a 5speed already. We're going it at my buddies house so we can prep the motor beforehand. What should I do to cutdown on downtime.

-purchase new harness at start extending?
-piece together FMIC kit?
-extra pumpkin and install the LSD?
-what extra parts should I put aside?
-pre-order motormounts?

Anything will help. We're looking into the Phil book and hopefully cut out as much downtime as possible. There will be a total of 6 give or take a guy. We've done honda swaps, 240swaps, twinturbo saleen, turbo honda, wrench on Suby's. Any big tools we should get ahead of time?

[1] Why would you purchase a new harness? [2] The soarer sidemount intercooler does the job, no need for a fmic at first. [3] What LSD did you have in mind? I'd wait around to see how DaveH's lsd unit works www.clubna-t.com [4] There aren't any extra parts needed really to get the motor to start-up. You need to use a twin-turbo [MK4] throttle cable....... but all the other components will work. [5] Motor mounts aren't usually a neccessity, especially since between the 1JZ set and your current 2JZ you can probably round up a good set of mounts.

I was thinking of getting an extra harness and extend the wires before we pull the motor out. My friend has his spare MKIV sidemount and piping handy. I acquired an HKS 100mm intake filter already from a previous sale. The LSD will be nice to get the car sideways. The resistor is no prob, doI really need the Tach convertor to make the tach work?

I'm trying to figure out why you would need to purchase a new harness to extend when one comes with your motor set?

Oh! I extend the one that comes with the motorset and not the one in my car? I really need pics of a harness of what needs to be extended. Do you have one in your archives?

Oh yeah! That goes without questioning! Just forgot to list it, belts, hoses, waterpump should be fine, plugs and debating on headgasket or not. Maybe not since boost will be kept low. Is the fuel cut defencer thing necessary?

Heres what I did., called Jeff Watson at Champion. I ordered a complete engine gasket set and turbo assembly gasket set(Turbo Gaskets FS now if you want PM me). Bought a front mount mostly because the Sidemount I got was damged. You dont need a front mount but it doesnt hurt to have one. ARP Headstuds(same as 2jz's) . A walbro 255lph pump. Prolly more i did but that was a year and a half ago. If you need a spare rear I have two SC300 5spd rears. New hoses, water pump and thermostat are also good. I also did a new rearmain seal and new mounts.

I may have went overboard at the time but its better to swap in a perfect motor than one that you have no history about.

Couple of A/C questions I have for you guys and I didn't want to start a new topic as it's basically relevant to this one. - most simply say use the GE compressor by throwing it to the side ala sr20 style.

What year did the Soarer switch over to R-134a? I have a '94 1JZ A/C compressor im using instead of the factory 2JZ one because that compressor is broken. Do I need to retrofit the system for R134a, or will all the existing refridgerant lines bolt up to the 1JZ compressor, and all I need to do is recharge it?
