Random 1jz questions
K people,
i'm about to swap in a 1jz into my sc and i had a couple of questions. i was hoping you guys could answer these...
Does the stock 1jz downpipe bolt down to stock sc cat without any modifications?
Is there anyway around the boost cut without using a boost cut controller? will a manual or electronic boost controller fix this?
Is there anyway around fuel cut without a fuel cut defender? perhaps an s-afc?
Is there anyway around the speed limiter without reprogramming the ecu?
I heard about the blitz access ecu? what advantages does it have over the stock ecu? is it fully reprogrammable?
Is it possible to push 400rwhp on stock twins and stock bottom end without nitrous? What is the record on stock twins and no nitrous?
How much boost can you run on stock twins before it becomes inefficient and starts blowing hot air? I know about the limitations of the ceramic blades, but the car wont be driven all the time and if the turbos go, i can go single..
The 2jzgte aftermarkets cams are a direct drop in for the 1jz right?
Thanks for putting up with all my questions.. I'm sure there will be more to come...

hmmmmmmm here goes.. answers are in order ( i hope)
yes
i've never experienced boost cut
there are modified ecu's available that eliminate fuel/speed cut
see answer above
i believe the blitz ecu is for modified 1jz's ie- bigger injectors, intkae, dp, exhaust, etc
anything is possible when tuned right
some people are now saying the twins can handle 20psi w/ the supporting mods but i am only boosting 1 bar on stock fuel, stock ecu
cam shafts or cam gears?
yes

Chino's answered but I'll add a few more.
1. AFAIK they do.
2. Yes. Any of the EBC will be able to do this.
3. Yes. S-AFC, Unichip, IFT and eManage should get around that
4. Not with using the stock computer. The stock ECU can't be reprogrammed anyway. You'll need some form of speed cut like an A'PEXi RSM.
5. Blitz Access is a totally reprogrammed ECU, like the Mine's. They're hell expensive though.
6. I don't know what this equates to in rwhp, but there's a lot of guys hitting between 200~250rwkw here in Australia with essentially bolt on mods - FMIC, opened up intake, full exhaust, engine management and larger injectors/fuel pump. What was interesting to note was that many of the Soarers at a recent dyno day had factory mufflers yet pulled the same if not a little more than some that had a cat. back fitted, so it might be just worthwhile changing out the stock DP up to the Y-split. You should be able to reach about (guesstimate) 200rwkw with no sweat.
7. 1bar is the boost limit on them. I know people that have had it up to 17psi on dyno days but then turned back down for street.
8. Get specific 1JZ cams, they're not too hard to come by anyway.
Hope that helps.

I ran my twins for over 1 year @ 18psi, mind you I had all of the supporting mods in place:
HKS EVC 5 boost controller
Dump pipes (removal of the stock Y piece)
HKS S type FMIC
440cc injectors from the J spec Supra
HKS FCON for fuel/timing control
HKS Super dragger Single exhaust 3" from turbo back with no cats
Turbos were still fine when i sold them on with no play at all. Keep in mind that I also did regular oil changes (every 5k) and always ran the turbo timer for 3 minutes for the cool down.

theres a group buy right now on supra forums for 1JZ specific camshafts from Crower. Any grind.. $5-600 for the set. Depends on how many ppl join in within the next 10 days.
