There's not really a ton of stuff you can do with a Lexus and only 1k. Get your crank pulley, and spend the rest to make sure that engine is in perfect running condition!

I'm still a little weary on the low priced 1j's. That's just me personally though. I know of a place in Long Beach that sells soarer front clips...but they're double the price They've all be leakdown and compression tested though, and the guy is VERY reputable. I've seen a few of the motors that he has gotten and they've all be awesome. It just depends on how soon you want your swap done and how much your willing to spend. You can find 1j's all day on ebay for the $1000 give or take a few hundred bucks but you're taking a gamble on it either way you look at it.

What parts fit the 2JZ that do not fit the 1JZ that are aftermarket that you want? I cant think of anything go-fast made becides manifolds, and a few odds and ends that are not interchangeable, but the 1JZ does have the supporting aftermarket for it. Wait 6mon-1yr. The 1JZ will be just as mainstream and overpriced as the 2jz. Get it while u can.
Why are the motors cheap? Easy.. they are dime a dozen all over the place. No one wanted a soarer swap a year ago.. and they've been on the market since 1991. They are cheap and unwanted for the most part til now. The biggest ripoff going is front clips. There is nothing you need in a front clip. My swap didnt come with the PS resivor, thats it.. So i spent $35 for one. $35 is alot cheaper then the extra $1000+ i woulda spent for a clip, and a place to store it, disposal, etc..
Prices are set upon demand. 5 years ago a 94 MK4 TT 6spd went for like 10-12k tops. Stupid F&F. Alot of ppl even hated them til it beat a ferarrai in some movie.
