Default TRD LSD SC300 noise & other stuff

Hi,

Been thinking about getting a TRD LSD For my 93 SC300 5 Speed (TRD #41301-JS401). After doing the searching here, I just got a few questions.

I believe this matches the gear ratios of my SC300 5 speed perfectly from the posts, is this correct?

Also, could someone tell me whether the TRD LSD adds noise to the ride of the SC300? I've heard that lots of clutch type LSDs have noise issues.

Does the ride quality get any worse with a TRD LSD?

Thanks so much and I appreciate it.

I had a TRD LSD with no noise or ride quality issues. Make sure you get the correct one (for NA/ or Auto NOT 6-speed)

I'm going 6-speed so I have one for sale already mounted in a pumpkin $750

Did you have any issues with incorrect speedometers or does the gearing match up perfectly?

Also, how many miles have you put on this particular LSD? Thanks.

when i had an SCCA roadrace trans am, i had a eaton carbon fiber clutch type diff installed after i blew my auburn, and the guy set it up spacing and spec wise in the gears for road race use, so yeah that did make a gear whine noise in the rear end. Is that what yours is doing?

VJ RC51,

I don't actually have a LSD on my SC300 yet. I'm still debating whether to get one as some seen to make a whining noise and I wanted to see if the people with TRD LSDs were having that issue.

Anyone care to add to this? I'd appreciate any pointers.

Whining noise in a rear diff from my understanding comes from how its setup. Closer the teeth are on the gears, the stronger the rearend is, but yes, you will get noise. Also gear whine can also be broken teeth, etc... lol

I see. Do you find it to be pretty loud in general?

my friend has the trd lsd (2way) on his drift corolla and it whines pretty loud
i realize thats for a diffrent car but whine-ing noise is typical for any heavy duty aftermarket lsd.....

but in my mind when u fix up the car theres certain sounds that u just expect....if u retain stock interior it will dampen most of those sounds.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be searching for a good deal on a TRD LSD; just wish I knew someone with one so that I could feel and hear it in action first. Don't have much money so I gotta be wise on my car spending ya know.

Thanks again.

Default Anyone find a vendor/supplier for the TRD 41301-JS401 LSD?

Also, this is the LSD for the non-6 spd transmission, correct?

Anyone have a ballpark figure for price of the part(s) and the labor to install this LSD?

Lastly, since this is a two-way (?) full LSD, does it affect gas mileage at all?

I've got a 1998 SC400 and was thinking of installing this LSD - anyone done this on a 1998?

Thanks in advance, akitamike@yahoo.com.

Go for it. I like mine. Just don't crash your car in the rain.
