HKS Speed Limit Defencer - Good or Bad?
I have a 97 SC300 with a Soarer 2.5TT (1JZGTE) swap. The problem I have is that my car speed cuts at 119mph and will not go beyond that. I recently purchased a HKS SLD to cut out the Speed problem but have not installed it yet. I was wondering if anyone has done this or has other solutions to the problem? Success stories and/or horror stories welcomed!

Hey, got_trd, be sure to order the right one for your car and tranny. I believe that automatic requires the HKS SLD Type 2. That's the one that I purchased. PM me if you have questions. By the way HKS will charge you $8 for the English instructions, but I have them on Email. Let me know if you need them.

As I understand it, all JDM ecu's are governed like that. I have a JDM swap in my honda, and 115 is the limit. Thats before I even get into fifth gear.
Ive heard of different speed delimiters. They should all work good. It seems like a better alternative than editing your software.

I know of a shop here in Knoxville that will definately love to take care of it. Fastech Motorsports and I can give you the number if you would like. Just PM me. They are good friends of mine and work on anything from Subaru WRX's (their specialty) to Toyota's, Lexus's, and Honda's. The guy that owns it has a WRX that he's built the motor in tremedously. He's currently working on a 300zx N/A to TT swap and another SC300 single turbo Supra swap. Great bunch of guys. Let me know.

i have a friend in nashville that has done a few 2jzgte swaps in SCs. i think he has 5 or 6 SCs at his shop now. let me know if you want more details. and i may be up there on august 15th too. we will have to catch up.
back on topic... lucky you that its 119, and not 110 like poor chino's. we were giving some streetbikes a run for their money till we hit the speed cut.
