It will work fine, but its not as strong as the tt tranny. Probably wont last very long unless you go easy during shifts and use a tranny cooler with a fan if possible.

It is controlled like the TT tranny,no more cable to control line pressure, but it is still the same A340e as the older SC300.

Where did you find that info at? From what i have read and researched on from Lex Luthor, Sound Performance and others. The 98-00 share the same tranny as the supra tt.

So you're saying that from your research you found out that the '98+ SC's come with the Supra TWIN TURBO Tranny??? I find that hard to believe. Why would Toyota put in such a strong tranny from the Supra Turbo if its making 100 hp less. I can understand if the trans is shared with an N/A Supra, but from a twin turbo one; it just doesn't make any sense. Are you sure you didn't misinterpret what you heard?

All the above posts are not wrong...gadget has it right....he's done a ton of research and hands-on w/ these units. The '98-up SC3 automatics do away with the throttle valve cable and are controlled electronically like the TT, but they are not as strong as the TT unit and the shift programming is way softer...it'll burn up the clutches as it slips trying to smooth out the shift.

i was wondering the same thing, cant find a definite answer. im looking at a 98sc300 and was thinking to build a USDM TT auto tranny with valve body upgrade, upgraded TC, cryo treated gears was recco by someone on this board. upgraded rear end with supra 3.76 lsd. i just want to make the tranny stronger so in the future when i decide to drop in a 2jzgte it'll hold the power well. since the TT auto tranny is stronger thats why i wanted to start somewhere its already holding power.
