I misshifted.
My shifter is a bit lose, (the plastic isn't sealing on the shifter bolts so i have to tighten them weekly) I just ordered new ones from the dealer. Anyways I was in 3rd about 5900 went for 4th hit 2nd went to about 7k I'm pretty sure this isn't absolutely horrible especially since I caught it almost instantly. If the 2jz can take 25 psi of boost i'm sure it can take a second of 7k.

Forced Overrevs
Yeah, I've been there, done that, more than once. Really frightening to see that needle coming down through 7500 rpm from god knows what. I redlined shifted from 4th to 5th and got 3rd on a road track, caught it in an instant, but holy sheep dip, what a scream from both the engine and rear wheels.
No ill effects to engine at all. Can't say the same for the engine mounts, when I ultimately pulled my engine for my 2jz-gte swap, one motor mount was completely broken and the remaining just hangin in there. Don't know what did that, but am left wondering...

I doubt it hurt anything, as long as you had oil in the crackcase
Supra owners typically bump their rev limiter up to 7200-7500 and consider it safe on the stock head... 8500 requires some head work.
