Default radiators

so i need a new radiator... and I'm contemplating an aftermarket one (might as well right?)

anyone have any recommendations or experiences they'd like to share regarding the performance, install, etc... of any aftermarket radiator?

I'm also looking for this to be cost-effective... I'm running flex-a-lite fans right now (well only 1 fan... the other broke) so if there is nothing wrong with stock... someone chime in and help me save money.

thanks
tommy

How much is an OEM one? a few hundred? I'd go with a Koyo or Fluidyne

Tommy,

This is my own personal opinion so please take it as that.

Our cars are not known for BHG problems, so paying too much for a radiator for me is a waste of money. I would certainly go with an aftermarket one, but I wouldn't waste money on an expensive one.

Good Luck,
Jonny

cool... yea i've ran without any fans and a leaking radiator for a while now with no problems... our engines are really good about heat.

but... i can't drive around like this forever... and i'm going to want to use my AC soon... so i figured i'd replace the radiator and e-fan.

Does anyone have any part numbers on aftermarket radiators that bolt right in? I don't want to have to buy a special hose or anything. I want this to be a bolt-in affair.

An aftermarket Modine is appx $179. The OEM is much more...

My buddy is running a Koyo in his FD and actually has problems getting up to temp in a timely manner in cooler weather. Which is odd because they typically run really hot.

Im running Koyo and flexalite fans. Works fine with me except that the fans are really loud. performance wise? hmmm.... I don't think that there is much of a difference.

I had about 800lbs payload and climbing 15-35degree hill at over 4000ft elevation for nearly 35minutes with A/C on at max cold +3 fan at 100+degree weather. The needle moved up over the very next mark above the 1/2 way mark at that point.

make your choice

BTW... my flex-a-lite's are actually not too bad... i got my blades replaced for free from flex-a-lite that got rid of noise and resonation/sound
