Default Few Issues With The Engine Maybe Cat?

My SC400 is pulling code 27... and even after I replaced the Sub-O2 sensors like the error code says it was, it was still pulling that code. Once in a blue moon for God knows why, the car will start and the check engine light and track off light will be off until about 50 miles into a trip then BAM there they are again. I read that it could be an issue with the Catalytic converter, and the dealer wants like $600 each, so I was wondering since there is no emissions testing where I live is it ok to just yank out the Catalytic Converter? Secondly, theres this smell that started too inside and outside the car, its like a burning rubber or fuel smell, stings the nose a bit hehe... and its a pain in the *** when my friend gets into the passengers seat and says she's getting nauseous from the smell. Could this be related to the CAT? Or something else? I JUST replaced the alternator like a week ago, and the Power Steering looked fine. I am at a loss folks gimme your suggestions ESPECIALLY on the smell issue.

didnt have time to read your whole post, but if you replaced the O2 sensor in your cat, and your cat was already bad, the cat WILL kill the new O2 sensor.

But yeah, just get rid of the cat if you dont need it. It also sounds like you may have an exhaust leak. Any exhaust shop whould be able to take care of all of this for you.

Default You think that will get rid of the smell too?

Do you think a CAT could cause a weird burning smell inside the car too?
