93 sc300 5speed clutch/gears
question.... when i go from 1st to second, the second feels rough when i drop it down. Does it mean the gear is going to go out?. When the car's been running awhile its not as bad but its still annoying. 3rd 4th n 5th is smooth. Any thoughts?

I've talked to guys that have the IS and they complain about the 1,2, sometimes 3rd feeling notcy
the oil helps but even if it's brand new in some cases it's not perfectly smooth.

if it iz the sync how much does that cost to replace. I just got a full tuneup on the car so my oil is fresh it did help a bit but in order not to feel it i guess it has to circulate and i wont feel it as much. but i had a 89 accord 5spd w/ 150k and it didnt do that at all i started up and went all smooth

you can't really compare your accord with this car. IMO.
I just replaced my tranny with a used one, it was cheaper than having the bad tranny rebuilt.

also you can get a new w58 for under 1400$
Hello1 makes it sound like you pop out the w58 and just swap in the r154, it's not that simple you need other parts.
search on this there is info!
the r154 is from the MKIII pretty much

Hey guys, that thread I made will help with LOOSE/SLOPPY shifts, but if you grind into a gear, that problem has nothing to do with the shifter bushing/seat. A grind or really notchy shift is most likely a synchro, you can try putting in some thick stuff like 85w-140, or try GM's Synchromesh, but there is no easy fix for this problem
