Default Completely Removing the EGR system

I've been poking around on SupraForums & here @ club lexus looking (read searching) for info on completely removing the EGR system from the 2JZ-GE. I've come up short as far as what needs to stay and what can go.

I've ordered the block off plates from Mohdparts.com, and I'm planning on doing it as soon as the parts come in... but I'm still trying to make sense of all those vacum lines that seem to go everwhere.

For those of you who have done this, what can I remove, and what stays? Charcoal canister?

Also, I got a CEL for 71 which is EGR. Since cleaning out the Y pipe in intake, it has gone away, but my idle is absolute crap now. My intake cam looks like its about ready to stop and then starts up again. I'm hoping its my EGR valve or modulator going, but we'll find out shortly.

PS: I don't want to get into a debate over whether or not the EGR system is worth taking out -- I've ordered the parts, the EGR sys is broken already, and it's going.

So... who has done this?

forget about the resistor mumbo jumbo, drill and tap a hole on the lower blockoff plate for the sensor.

there is a post from a sf member on this as well.

yes, I'm moving to CA, but as a college student, my primary residence and where my car is registered and insured is MA... my inspection sticker needs to be valid in MA -- not CA. I guess I'm just lucky :-)

(also, tuning the A/F is better than having a stupid EGR)

Aren't you supposed to register your car in 30 days?

nope. I still remain a citizen of MA (for better or for worse )

If I was to register my car in CA it'd have to be my primary residence

Which would mean my license would have to change and everything... not to mention the fact that I'm still technically a dependant (my parents claim me as such) and my primary residence is still MA. (that's where all the bills go )

this from college board: "In the United States, public higher education institutions use "state residency" (the place of a student's permanent home)"

My permanent home is in MA, but school is in CA.

Moreover, it's a private university, and I'm not getting any sort of in-state resident tuition break... because there isn't any.

which all means... the EGR system is going!

When you remove the EGR system, a sensor that monitors it is removed as well. You have the option of relocating it, or removing it and using a resistor to "fool" the computer into thinking the sensor is still there.

removing it and adding a resistor is like having an o2 sensor eliminator. i don't see any downsides to adding a resistor and removing the sensor. just my 2cents

What's the down side to putting a resistor on the pigtail and just leaving everything else in tact? Why remove it all?
