I would recommend you swap in a 2jz instead of the 1jz. The 2jz has more horsepower and is more current. More market for upgrade. Thats my opinion.

Hmmm if you want something different, here are some options...

LS1
RB26DETT
20B
SR20DET w/ major turbo upgrade

How come you don't want the front clips from a Soarer? Wouldn't that be easier to fit than any other 1JZ powered car (MkII, Chaser, JZA70 Supra etc...)??

I'd be thinking that Soarer front clips are pretty easy to find... I went to visit some import dismantlers today here in Sydney (irrelevant, but still...) and I saw as many as 4 in one wrecker, all 1JZ's... trust me I haven't seen that many front clips at one wrecker at in one visit.

there are a couple reasons you should buy a soarer clip, the oil pan is different from a jza70 supra to the soarer, as well as different intercooler piping, ecu, wiring harness, power steering, radiator, fan shroud, basically everything about the clip is different. I have done the 1jz swap on my supra which took a little over a week. Im interesting in finding more about the sc300 because im going to sell my supr to get a 1jz soarer. ohh, for the transmission, if you wanted to go 5speed, im guessing you would only need a bell housing from a mkiv n/a tranny. you can use any transmission from the n/a or turbo r154 or w58 transmissions.

The oil pan from a supra and soarer are the same intercooler is different and for all that say you can't
make big hp with a 1jzgte there is a supra inSFL making 4digit hp at the wheels.

You can put any trans in there that you want, such as the W58, R154, and the GETRAG(V160?). If you want the R154 which is a very strong trans, just get it out of a 7MGTE supra. Most likely youll have to get a rebuild on it due to age, but a rebuilt R154 is still worth it unless youre going for monster HP numbers. The bellhousings are the same between the 7m, 1jz, 2jz but you will most likely have to get a custom driveshaft made if you want anything but the W58. You may be able to find the driveshaft from a MT Soarer TT, but i wouldnt count on it.
