Default Turbo on a 92 SC300

I bought my 92 sc300 a few months ago & i'm planning on adding a turbo setup. I've heard that the 92's have problems accepting boost & a 93+ ecu & maf are needed. Can anyone verify this for me & let me know if I can expect any other problems?

You didn't run into any problems on your 92? I hadn't heard anything about it until yesterday. I contacted turbo-kits.com yesterday & asked why it says that the fmax kit is a direct bolt on for all years but 92. I was told that the ecu & maf would have to be changed. I figured if people had problems, I would have read a post about it here, but I didn't see anything.

My guess is they make the mistake because these kits were originally made for the Supra. The first year they were available was 93. They use the same setup as the 92 SC. There are a few 92's that are turbo'ed and are using the stock ecu and maf.

That's what I figured, that's why I emailed them. The turbo kit is listed on there site under sc300 though. When I asked him why it wasn't bolt on for 92, he said they don't like boost & I needed the ecu & maf. Thanks for your help

I would consider

www.boostlogic.com
www.sound-performance.com
www.powerhouseracing.com

kits before that one.

boostlogic or sound-performance will get my money eventually...
gonna be hard to decide witch- although sound-performance dosent advertise a kit for the NA, ive called them and they said they could do it.
if you want to peice togther a kit, or try and get one cheaper (used parts and ebay), dont forget DaveH on supraforum.com, just search for his name .

Good Luck !

I can vouch for Boostlogic. Their parts are great. The manifold is a peice of art, and the FMIC intercooler piping is polished so it looks beautiful. I dont have my car running just yet, but it will probably be ready next week. I went with boostlogic, they are a good company to deal with.

Kevin

PS. my car is a 92, but I also heard about the 92 maf having problems, so i got the 93 maf and 93 ECU just as a backup.
