Default Need my lexus key copied any good places?

Having a hard time finding a good locksmith that wont charge me $65.00 and that is with providing him a blank key. Couple searches on CL and see members getting cuts for $20.00 with there own key. Any help? Or is that the going rate in the NW.

Whats the older lexus keys look like? are they laser cut? chipped? If neither it may tie into a toyota blank. And if so check if lowes can do it.

Theres a few things about getting a Lexus key cut.

1. If there is a chip in the original key, you will need to get a key that has a chip already in it, made for Lexus.

2. If you just go to Lowes for a blank and find someone to get it cut by. You wont be able to go far with it, due to the chip mechanism. You will be able to open your trunk/driver door/glove box/ignition, if the key you copied is a master. If its not the master, then the driver door/ignition is the only option.

3. If you do get a key that has a chip made for a Lexus vehicle, you will still need to go to Lexus to get it programmed to your ECU. Which it could cost you between $80-$300 to get it done.

4. Good Luck
