another ticket...
tint @ 20% all-around but the scanner read 15%. he said he only cared bout my fronts, but later i called the court and it turns out i could just pay the ticket instead of actually obeying the "fix-it". got that taken care of today but didnt want to drive my car with no front plate and illegal tints to the court house in fife, so i took my parents rx to play it safe

There's a device to clamp on the window and detect the % of light passing through.
The reason why the tint % is lower. IS that there is a slight tint on the windows. Its not much of a notice, but there is about 95% tint. The tint that is put on, is 20%, but subtract 5% from that = 15%.
Okay, so for those that dont know anything about tint. Or is wondering why the % is lower, for darker. Here is a quick annalogy(sp?)
If you have no tint, its 100% see through. So the lower the %, the lower the visibility. So if you go with 5% tint. Its 5% see through. Thats not including the slight % of tint, thats already on the window.
My side tint is 20%, but the cop that scanned it. It read 13%. But I got lucky, and told him that it was already on the car, when I bought it. I even told him, that it made the car look good...lol
No ticket for me. But I do have a front license plate

I would just replace the bulb. Go to a police dept. Have an officer sign off, that you have amber/red bulbs. Then take it to court and show the judge that you have replaced the bulbs, by showing that the officer signed off stating that you have legit bulbs.
From my personal experience, Ive been pulled over for having super white bulbs on my fenders. The rule is, you have to have either amber as a blinker, or amber/red as a steady parking light, behind the front wheel well. Anything foward, towards the front bumper could be white or amber.
Pierce county has, "hearing by mail". Does your county have that?
