The daylight running light changes to a yellow turn signal on our 2016. I’m not sure if the DLRs are on when using remote start, but I believe so, assuming that is the position of the switch on the light stalk.
Check what time of the day you are testing that. Cos at night, the mode of those lights change from "DRL" to "Parking Light" and dims. That stays on when the turn signals are used. In full brightness DRL mode, that should switch off when the turn signals are used.
The DRL will not come on when remote started since the DRL actually normally don’t turn on until you shift out of Park.
The DRLs on both our 2015 ES and 2016 NX turn on within a couple second of starting the car. That is why I assumed they did with the remote start. So the statement above does not reflect the behavior of either of our cars.
However, just to answer this question for myself, I remote started our 2016 NX and the DRLs did NOT come on. Since dchar’s observations do not match my own, I suppose it is possible that this behavior varies by model year or perhaps a setting the dealer can apply?
