I'm considering a NX. I was looking at getting a 2016 but now I may get a new 2019 F-Sport. Now that it's on year 5 of the current design, could it be due for a new design for model year 2020?

Any rumors out there?

 

As you mentioned, Toyota and Honda do 5 year cycles. I'd safely presume it will happen. Then again, why buy a first year of redesign anyway? To be a guinea pig for bugs?

 

No, I don't want to be a guinea pig nor do I want to buy a new car to be outdated in a year. I should have bought the NX in 2017....ha

 

 

That is correct. For its higher volume and moderately priced models, Lexus has been using a 6 year re-design cycle with a mid-cycle re-fresh after the 3rd year. For its higher priced and lower volume models, including the LS, LX, and GX, they have used longer re-design cycles.

However, what makes me think that there might be a 2nd generation NX after only 5 years is the fact that there is a new generation for the Toyota RAV4 for the 2019 model year. Just like the 7th generation ES came one year later than the new generation of the Avalon, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd generation of the NX came one year after the new RAV4 generation.

 

 

Who knows. Toyota goes all electric 2020... so who knows. ICE vehicles are so passe....

 

I bought a 2015, the first year of the NX. No bugs!

 

I don't think you can go wrong with a 2019 F Sport. Just be sure to press your sales associate for a model with Android Auto/CarPlay. Dealers seem to have a lot of early-in-the-model-year stock around here, and my store was offering some extra cash and some service credit if I'd forego one that just came off the boat. If it doesn't matter to you, that might be an angle to save a few bucks. It's a sharp car, nice interior. The resale will be fine, unless you lease and don't care.

 

I bought a new 2015 NX also. I've never needed it serviced under the warranty. No bugs !
Just routine oil changes and tire rotations.

 

 

I am really looking forward to the new 2020 NX300h

I have done some research on the New RAV4 and found that the newly designed Hybrid is much improved in the MPG department.

These are the stats for the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the 2019 Lexus NX300h

The RAV4 has a Curb Weight of 3950 and the MPG is rated at 34/30/32
The NX300h .... Curb Weight of 4180 and the MPG is rated at 33/30/31

So I have no reason to believe that the new 2020 refreshed or redesigned NX300h won't be within 1 MPG of the 2019 RAV4

 

I bought a 2015 nx/ first year total new design and have had 1 issue. I got it in April, so it hadnt been out long at all. I guess im just a risk taker! Id be in for the new 2020 if they took away the horrible placement of the touchpad! The worst.

 

 

With the Rav4 being totally redesigned, Lincoln bringing out the Corsair, and NX sales stagnant in a growing segment, what does everyone think about Lexus bumping up the timeline for a new NX? The Lincoln shown at the NY Auto show really seems to have upped it's game compared to the old MKC-no longer a rebadged Escape.
