Brake controller for towing

Brake controller for towing
Lexus requires a brake controller for the nx to support towing any decent weight, even with the tow package. However, they dont really make it easy to install one, usually they are tucked under the dash, but the nx has knee airbags which i did not want to block. Here is my solution, it is barely visible from the sides, but i have great access to the brake controller and even the asc, although its usually off anyway. Brake controller sleeve is attached with 3m vhb.

Thanks for the instructions link, they are very useful.
Please post an image of the installed 7-way connector.
My installation is using the Curt 56268, also wired to a 7-way connector, by snipping off the included flat 4-way connector and instead wiring to a Curt 58417 7-way connector.

An inquiry was posed to me about where / how to obtain the 7-Way Connector Back Up Lamp signal.
According to the FSM, the Instrument Panel Junction Block has the Back Up Lamp relay. That relay feeds four output pins on those large many pin / multi pin connectors.
The connector location that has been dedicated to the Q43 Option Connector (Trailer Towing) is connector 4A, pin24.
That Back Up Lamp output is protected by the Instrument Panel Junction Block 5A BKUP LP fuse, shared w/ the other back up lamp bulbs. As-such, this would be appropriate for a low trailer lamp current load. If that is not possible, then this could feed a relay that would then ensure that existing fuse would never be overloaded. The relay would be used to switch a fused power source to the trailer Back Up Lamp 7-Way Connector.

Note that some documentation says that Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly BKUP LP fuse is 5A and others say it is 15A. I don't have access to the vehicle now, so I can't check.
