Default Brake Controller

Just need to know where everyone who has installed a brake controller has placed their grounding wire? There is a bolt coming out of the firewall that connects to a bracket, which is connected to some type of electronic module with a bunch of electrical wires connected to it. I am assuming this is safe to connect the ground to???. Does anyone else have any other spots that they like to connect the ground? Thanks.

I just used the brake controller ground wire that's already on the vehicle. I thought all GXs had that by default.

Would you mind taking a pic of that wire if it is not too much trouble. Is it in the proximity of where the brake controller harness is? Thanks!

I'm not sure what kind of controller you are using. I used a basic 4 wire Curt Brake controller. First when looking at the front panel, the connector should be directly above the floor hvac vent behind your tpms switch.

Remove the screw in the middle of the lower panel, and then pull down.

Once you remove the panel you should see the connecter above the vent.

Looking at the back of the connector from the brake controller side, you can see there is 5 wires.

On my 4 wire controller, it's set up like this.
Controller-----Vehicle harness----Function
Blue .............Yellow-----------------Brake to Trailer
Black ............Black------------------Battery+
White ............White/Bk-------------Ground
Red ...............Green/Y--------------Stoplight Switch
N/A ...............Green----------------UNK

I hope this helps.

Did the GX come with a pigtail connector for hooking up a brake controller, or are you expected to find a matching plug yourself?

Some come with it in the glovebox, but if you're not the original owner then it may be missing. I was lucky and found mine in the glovebox. You can always just connect into the back of the connector if you dont have the pigtail. Or order one, they should be very cheap.
