2018 NX Discontinued Qi Wireless Charging
Hey All,
2018 NX can now be found at your local dealers. Apparently, Qi Wireless Charging tray is discontinued in all 2018 NX models. I went to couple dealers today and checked out both non-fsport and F-sport with premium packaged models. Non of them have the Qi wireless charging tray.
One sales rep said they discontinued the support for wireless charging. Can anyone else confirm?

If this were to be true it'll be a huge blow to Lexus. Apple iPhones has just launched the 8/8Plus and iPhone 10 with Qi Wireless charing capability. I was so looking forward to this feature on the 2018 NX..

It does seem like Lexus did remove the qi wireless charger tray option...I wonder if it would be pretty easy to wireup yourself or through the dealer. It is weird that Lexus discontinued it for the 2018MY but they may be re-engineering a better charger (not recessed) for the later model years, or trying to utilize that small space below the climate control and make that the wireless charger spot.

I've had that tray since 2015 and found it useless. It is very slow. I never got a good charge while driving anywhere, you'd have to go across the country to get a full charge.
Also, the location inside the console was annoying and not convenient. Lexus needs to rethink it's location on the NX something in the dash like the RX. The new Cadillac XT5 has a slot you push your phone into in the front of the console. Great idea.
I hope Lexus is rethinking and designing a better way for NX. Probably not though. There are a lot of things done poorly or not at all for the lowly model in their lineup.

I agree that the location is just bad. Instead of the tray under the armrest, they should have a slide down holder somewhere out in the open so you remember to take it with you.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. I don't know how many times I have left the car only to realize later I forgot to grab my phone from the tray.. Out of sight out of mind. Another reason I rarely use it.

I've been using wireless chargers with Android phones for over 2 years, and, even with supposedly "fast" chargers, the charge rate is less than half of the charge rate with a wired charger. And, if you are using the phone to do something like streaming audio via Bluetooth to the car, the slow charge rate can have trouble keeping up with the charge that is being used by the phone. At this point, I've pretty much given up on using wireless chargers.

Having just got a new iPhone 8, I beg to differ a bit. The plate forces me to put my phone away so any "distracted driving" tickets can be avoided. I use all of my phone features through the car system anyway. It also gives a slight charge over my 45 minute commute, so while it is not amazing, I find it a valued feature.
