Default Factory Scheduled Maintenance

Hi

My NX200t is reaching 30000 miles service. My Lexus dealer quoted $680 for 30000 mile service.

Is any other service center I can go for services (Midas,Firestone,Monro etc )

Please suggest any alternative to save some money..

Thanks

You can look in the manual and see what is required and do most or all of it yourself. If you can't do it all, only pay the dealer for those parts that you are not able to do yourself.

Not sure how many dealers you have in your area I have several. I had a price from $522.00 to $735.00. When I told the 735 guy what I could get it for and sent him the quote he dropped his to same price.

The 30K mile service is expensive mainly due to replacing engine filter and replacing brake fluid. It generally runs $500-600; make sure your dealer isn't tacking on unnecessary services that aren't mentioned in the manual. You can save some money by ordering the filters online and replacing them yourself. Save yourself $10 by replacing your own smart key battery.

The 40K mile service might also be a bit pricey since the 200t engines suggest spark plugs to be replaced at this interval.

Go back to your Lexus dealer and order the items you need a la carte. You need an oil change ($75-$100), tire rotation ($20) and the brake fluid changed ($100). You can change the cabin and engine air filters for $40 and takes combined five minutes. The wiper blade inserts are $16 and take 5 minutes. Total cost $276. Want to save even more $$$ go get all this done at your local Toyota dealer.

Strange that the NX requires spark plugs to be changed at 40,000 miles. Our RX and ES are at 120,000 miles.

Every 10,000 miles an oil change and tire rotation is needed. At the Lexus dealership this should be less than $100. Every 30,000 miles the brake fluid needs to be changed and again about $100. Every 20,000 miles change the air and cabin filters. This combined takes five minutes and the air filter can be bought on line at Lexus Parts World for $16. The cabin air filter can be bought at Walmart for $18, It is the Fram Fresh Breeze #10285 with carbon and baking soda to filter the air. Wiper blade inserts again can be bought at Lexus Parts World for $16 for both refills and takes five minutes to replace. You are done until 100,000 miles. At Lexus Parts World use cl5 in the promo code for 10% discount. If you go in and ask for the 10,000, 20,000 30,000 maintenance you will be paying big bucks for a lot more items you do not need checked and inspected. Once a year replace the key fob battery cr2032. Keep receipts for everything. I take my oil filter and 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 purchased at Walmart for $24 to my local Toyota dealer and they charge me $25 labor.

Thank you so much
I will ask quote for only oil change, Brake fluid change.
I am buying new tires so tire rotation is not required
Cabin filter I will replaced with K&N VF2000
Air Filter, key for battery and wiper blades I will buy and I will change it

I'm thinking maybe the cylinder (where the spark plugs are) gets far more heat and compression than your RX and ES, because of the turbo.

You are correct. The hybrid NX's spark plugs get changed at 120,000 miles.

Just checked all manuals for ES350, ES300H, RX350 and RX450h and all state plugs changed at 120,000 miles for the first time.

My mistake about the ES. I guess just RX350 (2016+), IS350, RC350, and GS350. Maybe it is due to the port and direct injection in these engines that require replacement of spark plugs at 60K miles.

There is absolutely no reason why the scheduled maintenance needs to be done at a Lexus dealer.

For the last 15 years since I started owning Lexus vehicles, I have had them serviced at the local Toyota dealer. The Toyota dealer uses the same oil, filters, and other parts that the Lexus dealer would use, and the prices that I pay are consistently less than half of what I'd be paying for the same services at the Lexus dealer.

At the Toyota dealer, I can get all of the items in the 30,000 mile NX service done for under $250. I pay $40 for the full synthetic oil change (with a coupon that is always available), $10 for the tire rotation, $100 for the brake fluid flush, and well under $40 for the filters. Further, the Toyota dealer enters the record of the service into the data base for the history of my vehicles on the Lexus site.

Always done the same thing....Toyota dealer. Here they have a quick lube lane and when I don't feel like doing it, they provide the same service for $52 less. They also know me and don't do all the other stuff like lube hinges, filters etc. I would prefer to do those things myself. They have always replaced the wiper sleeve for free if needed, sleeve purchased at parts counter.
