5k / 6 months service, oil change question.
Just got my 5K / 6 months servicing done today. I have 2241 miles at the time. I told the dealer to change the oil, which they did. And it is not included in the 5K maintenance. So my question is this, the service sticker they stuck on my windshield shows 7241 miles for next service (oil change). So the oil is good for 5K miles. Then why does Lexus hold off on the oil change until 10K miles / 12 months for the complimentary service? Do new cars use some extra special oil for engine break in that lasts 10K?

The first oil change is scheduled for 10K miles/1 year. The ES now uses synthetic oil that lasts > 10K miles, depending on your driving demands, that's why all the oil change intervals are at the 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K, etc. miles service interval.

Maintenance service is due every 5k or 6 months whatever happens fist.Manufacturer recommends changing the oil every 10k. My 2015 is over a year old with very low mileage (6k) ,The dealer did the first oil change at 12 m/5k.
